Very unstable on my system (mac 10.4.2, PB15-1.67, 2gb) About 1/2 the profiles I have tried to open in 2D or 3D graph, or inspector crash instantly to finder.
Well, that doesn’t sound good. Could you tell us if you get any error messages, and could you send me a copy of one of the profiles that causes the crash? Just send it to the bug report email listed in the README (I’d rather not post it here to be snarfed up by spambots).
System 10.4.2? Is that a typo, or are you using a development beta?
One last question: Are you using Norton or Virex antivirus software? They both can wreak havoc.
Thanks for the report.
In my system (win XP SP2) this beta crashes if I try to open a profile created using Profilemaker 5.0.2 and ICC version 4. I use Norton Antivirus 2005.
Crashes on my system, too - even with Symantec AV disabled.
No error message - just usual Windows error - “must close”.
Can’t seem to grab the Windows error file data.
Dual Xeon
Win XP Pro
LOTS of RAM and HDD
Arr. Are you talking about when using ICC v4 profiles?
I just ran Software Update 10 minutes ago and it updated my Mac mini to 10.4.1… no version 10.4.2 that I’m aware of.
I will send the profile, and error log dump, too if it will help.
No Norton, or Virex.
Profile built with PM 5.03, and have found a few 5.02 that will also crash it. Profiles are v4.xx
Same, profiles ICC ver. 4 crashes as in the previous version. Profiles ver2 works fine.
Crashes too when trying to display as vectors ; message display is:
unexptected error : Nil object exception

OK, we’re looking into this one…

can you describe the actions you took to get the crash? which profile you used, etc.
Also more information about your system would be helpful… Windows / Mac? versions?

I have had some problems with beta 12 but nothing like this. If I try to open ImagePrint profiles in Profile Inspector I get 4 dialogs in a row stating “CSError -54”, then the Inspector opens it. This happens with every IP profile I try. I am running 10.4.1 on a dual G5 2GHz.

right! now that’s (mostly) what’s supposed to happen.
The ImagePrint profiles are NOT ICC compatible profiles and that’s why ColorSync is complaining with a -54 error.
That said, ColorThink really only needs to give you one message doesn’t it?
I’ll fix that part…

Yes, Mike…
I’m attempting to open ICC v4.1 profiles - I do not use V2.0 profiles in my workflow.
Working on Windows XPSP2 - 4 GO RAM - PIV 3.8GHz
It craches only when I wish to display one profile (ie sRGB or any other else), I open the profile inspector than open the profile in 3D (lab or Yxy) and check the “vector” box.
Message : Unexpected error : Nil object exception
Kind regards
Norbert

OK, I found and killed the ICC v4 bug. It only showed up in some profiles… so wait until b14 for that one (don’t ask about b13, I didn’t skip it, it was just nasty!)

this is indeed odd.
So if I am following you, you have nothing open in the Grapher but a profile and the “Vector” ‘radio button’ is available?
It should not be an available option (should be grayed out)…
When I run it here on XP (non SP2) it is grayed out…

Hi Steve
Oh yes, I have only one profile open (Adobe RGB) and the three “plot as” boxes are all avalaible; when I select either “point” or “vectors” I get the above message. Strange isn’t it ?
Fine weather here in Paris, sunny and about 25C
Steve, the beta timed out today (during a demo of course, it figures ). You have something newer on the way?

Beta 15 is working smoothly on my Win XP/Dual Xeon platform.
Opens both v2.0 and v4.1 profiles, as well as HexaChrome profiles.
Looking good, Steve!
Thanks for letting us know, Christopher. Oftentimes, the only way I know things are working well for people is from the silence…
