Is it passable to convert CIELab to Density and where to find the formula?

Apologize for replyng to a really old thread but, it’s relative to what I’m doing. Does any one know how the terms Visual, Type 1, and Type 2 Densities relate to the more common terms in printing of Absolute and Relative density. In printing Absolute simply means a ratio against the full spectrum of the light source. Relative means a ratio against the substrate being printed on.
